Farewell, Fine Friend

If you read my last post dated February 20, 2010, you saw the envelope with the watercolor illustration as done by my pen pal Victor. Sadly, I got a letter today from his friend, Sue, who told me that he passed away on February 13. Victor was 82 and had recently been diagnosed with lung cancer.

Here is one of the few photos I have of him. (Sorry for the poor scan quality.)
"Time has passed, the Wheel has turned. It is time for you to move on. You will walk hand in hand with the Lord and with your ancestors who came before you."

Farewell, Fine Friend.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your pen pal. From your previous post, he seems like he was a fine, artistic man. May he rest in peace.

Thanks, James. As an artist he did quite a few pen and ink drawings for pen pal newsletters. That was how we met (in the mail). He had illustrated one that I had an article in. Anyway, I appreciate your note of sympathy. Thanks.

I am so sorry for this loss. Your tribute to him is touching... and what an odd coincidence that you had just posted about his artistic letters.

I'm sorry for your loss but glad you got to know him and have good memories.

I'm sorry for your loss, Jackie, but I'm glad you brought such joy to his life, especially at the end of his life. It must've been so fulfilling for both of you!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your taking the time to send your thoughtful comments on Victor. One thing I forgot to mention about him is how he always wrote his letters in calligraphy, which sometimes made them hard to read, but were always a joy to look at.
Thanks again!
