Day 3 of the National Stationery Show

 Tuesday was Day 3 at the National Stationery Show. What a fantastic and busy day! Started early at the show and made sure to meet some of the sponsors I had not seen yet. This is my last day at the show since Wed is only half a day and I am heading back to MN.

One of my favorite booths is the NCWU Corporation, which is a wholesale company, so you can't purchase items directly from them, but you can get an idea of what's out there and hopefully, find the items that appeal to you somehow, somewhere. (The following 4 images are from this booth.)

Later in the day, I visited the Morgan Library and Museum to see 'The Diary' exhibit (will blog about that moving experience later), met a pen pal who took me to the Strand Bookstore and then out to dinner. As if that wasn't enough, she also sent me off with a box of these chocolates.

Maybe I should have taken the photo before I helped myself to one of the delicious bites of heaven?

Overall, the show was a great success. A lot of people showed interest in being a sponsor and possible advertiser so it will be exciting to see the new offerings in the next year.

The next push is to line up advertisers for the print magazine scheduled for December 2011.

National Stationery Show Preparation

This week I will be attending my fifth National StationeryShow. I am just as excited this year as I have been every year I’ve gone. For the pen and paper lover, this is the trade show to attend.

It’ s great to walk the show aisles and see eye candy and functional, whimsical, practical, colorful stationery, cards, notebooks and office supplies and much more.

Natonal Stationery Show 2011

I have been busy making plans to attend the National Stationery Show (NSS) in New York May 15-18, 2011. This will be the fourth time I've attended and I'm just as excited as ever.

 I'm already made up the outline of an itinerary with some highlights of events that I know I will be attending. These include:

• Going to the Opening Night Party at Battery Park on Saturday night.
• Attending the Future Conference on Sunday morning where I will get to hear Seth Godin. The theme for this year's conference is 'Put it on Paper: The Importance of Pen and Ink in the Digital Age.'
• Meeting other Twitter friends at the Tweet n’ Greet that NSS is hosting this year. Twitter has been great to meet other show goers

December Stationery Giveaway

What is regreet?

For a fun way to re-use some of those funny, one-of-a-kind birthday cards (or any kind of greeting card), regreet offers an innovative change from the ordinary. Who hasn't thought of doing this? In 2009 Christy Eichers took this seed of an idea and went on to start her own company.

I met Christy this year at the National Stationery Show and have been following her (and her smiling green frog) on Twitter and Facbook and watching regreet grow.

For the uninitiated, here is how it works

The basic regreet kit comes with signature labels (to cover the previous signature), note paper, envelopes and journey labels. The journey label allows you to identify your newly minted regreet card with a unique regreet ID number that you can enter online and then track where the card goes once it leaves your care. Or, in some cases, you can see where it was before it found its way to you.

When I approached Christy for the monthly stationery giveaway, she immediately responded and sent in two items that can be won in this month's giveaway- the basic regreet greeting kit (pictured above) and a greeting card organizer as seen below.

Day 3 at the National Stationery Show

Day 3 at the National Stationery Show. Another full day walking the show and learning about all kinds of new products and companies.

Christy Eichers is the founder and owner of regreet. The regreet cards which allow you not only to reuse your greeting cards, but track them as they travel from person to person. You can learn more about how this works by visiting their website. It was especially nice to meet Christy as she is a fellow Minnesotan.

Green Stationery Inc. is also from MN. I spoke with the owner Marianne Cook for a little bit at her delightfully decorated booth of office and stationery supplies. I love her motto, "Good planets are hard to find."

The ladies at Sandscribbles were very inviting and anxious to share the unique selling point of their cards. Supia lives near the beach and goes there most days to write in the sand. Many days she will incorporate a dog in her photos as they are often taken for walks on the beach. The website has a lot more information and also allows you to place special orders for names, events, words you would like written for your special someone. Very cool! (the photo in the blog is from one of their cards- thank you!).

Letters & Journals received some very warm welcomes (thank you) as well as a few skeptical concerns (Why would anyone launch a magazine?). But overall, the response has been very positive and a few people have shown interest in supporting the magazine through ads and/or sponsorship.
